The other day I noticed several times when my phone was picked the call was immediately lost. After a bit of experimentation I realized that the cord on the phone was bad. Now getting dated electronic parts is getting harder and harder. Each day we move further into what used to be the future, things of the past are more difficult to find. While there are still corded phones they are not nearly as common as they used to be.
The main point is I needed a new cord or new phone. Usually the small 99 cent and up stores are a great resource for finding dated electronic connectors. Whether that is connecting a phone handset to the phone cradle or finding old AV wires. Yes, you guessed it, I still have a VCR. The bonus is these connections are usually quite inexpensive when bought at local dollar stores.

This store also had a few Piñatas and a big selection of Balloons. While waiting in line I had the chance to talk to a lovely couple who were shopping at U Mart for bird food to feed the wild birds. They mentioned the squirrels are really bad since work along the 60 was done. I’m not sure exactly where they live, but I imagine east of Hacienda Boulevard. I was looking to live in that area and there were a lot of squirrels.
These stores are always small businesses. So shopping there helps the community. I would rather help a neighbor than send the money out of the community into the banks of some uncaring big corporation.
The happy ending is that I did indeed find the phone cords I needed and I had the chance to help a local small business in the process.
