Went to the Green Menu Vegetarian Cooking Class at the Hacienda Heights Library on September 1. It was an interesting group. Not sure what their main agenda is. But they also have classes on spiritual living. The meetup events are run by volunteers. Met several nice people and got to hear some stories from what sound like vegetarian true believers.
I always find the dynamics of these groups insightful. If you see me at any of these met up come over and say hi. I plan on going to the next one at the library. They are going to make moon cake, yum.
I learned how to say white sugar in mandarin at this meet up so it was well worth the time. Oh, and did I mention we got to taste the food that was being papered. That is a good way to get me to a meeting, feed me. Today’s recipe was French hor dourves and veggie abalone pumpkin.

I also learned that the soy meat substitute can keep for up to a year in the refrigerator.
The French hor dourves to me tasted more like sweet and sour salad. I am not too sure I would bring this to a party for my non vegetarian friends. However the veggie abalone pumpkin is something I would take to a potluck type party. It had a great combination of black bean sauce and basil.
